Are you confused about whether you should book driving lessons or learn from someone you know? This blog will help with why you should go for driving lessons and how to make the best experience out of them. Driving is one of the most important skills that you need to master in life. It makes sense that you learn it properly so you pass your driving test in one go.

This is a guide on what you should expect from your driving instructor, no matter who you are learning it from. If you are from Greater Manchester and this sounds like how you would like to learn then hit us up!

Encouraging instructor

Your instructor should be someone who motivates you and boosts your confidence. He should not be too critical of your lack of driving skills and should give you enough space to make mistakes without being judged. Driving should be enjoyable and strict instructors only create the environment stressful. Have someone supportive on the passenger seat while you are behind the wheel.

Honest feedback and progress reports

You should get honest feedback from your instructor so you can work on your shortcomings and develop your driving style. Your instructor should only be helping you with instructions while giving some tips instead of making you follow the guide step by step. A progress report is also important to track how much you have learned. The goal is to not pass the test but to master driving completely so if you think that you need to practice more then do it. You have to be satisfied with your skills, not your instructor.

Good Value

Driving is a serious financial commitment- you have to consider the cost of learning, getting a car, and how to keep it on the road. In this economy, Drive 4 Pass understands that it is costly to learn driving so we offer special discounts to students and NHS staff. Your driver instructor should tell you whether you are ready to sit in an exam or not so you do not waste your time and money.

Sit behind the wheel

Are you ready to begin your driving journey? Book us today to get the best value for your money and learn from the experienced driving instructors.

Refresher driving classes are a good choice for those who hold a driver’s license but are rusty or lack confidence behind the wheel. If you have not driven in a while or only want to brush up on your skills, refresher-driving classes can help you feel safer and empowered on the road. Drive4Pass in Greater Manchester provides refresher sessions to help you regain your driving confidence and improve your skills in a variety of settings.

Building Confidence

One of the most common reasons for refresher driving lessons is boosting one’s confidence. You may be anxious about getting behind the wheel again if it has been a while since you last drove or if you recently relocated to a busy city like Manchester.

Driving in a crowded town with a lot of pedestrian crossings and convoluted roads can be very frightening. Refresher courses taught by qualified instructors can help allay these anxieties. Our instructors at Drive4Pass will help you in areas where you feel uncertain.

Enhancing One’s Understanding of Traffic Regulations

The Highway Code is under constant revision, so it is probable that road rules have changed from the time you last sat your test. Revival lessons are an excellent opportunity to learn about these changes.

These courses teach new road signs, familiarise you with changed speed limits, and make you comfortable with the changes in markings on roads. They prepare you for all that may want from roads in the Greater Manchester district and beyond. Improvement of driving skills -Even skilled drivers can improve on their driving skills. With time, they might adopt poor habits such as not checking the blind spots or how to use the mirrors. Driving lessons will help to avoid those habits and adopt the correct techniques. Drive4Pass focuses on essential areas such as parking, driving in bad weather, heavy traffic, problems that are common in Manchester drive.

Ready for Driving on the Motorway

Probably the best refresher lessons a driver who hardly uses the motorway can get are those. Greater Manchester comes off as intimidating when you have not used your motorways for quite a while. However, with an excellent teacher guiding you, you will feel positive getting onto the motorway, changing lanes, and not speeding.

Tailored to Your Needs

At Drive4Pass we make our refreshers-to-exactly what you need. Our instructors are here if you need to focus specifically on parallel parking, drive on the highways, or just build your confidence behind the wheel. They will ensure that you feel capable and in charge of your car when you finish.

Almost 44% of UK drivers experience driving anxiety which is not uncommon due to the amount of traffic accidents happening everyday.

If you are someone who suffers from driving anxiety then we have got some tips to help you!

Figure out the root cause of anxiety

Find what triggers you so you can address each issue. Be it a fear of potential danger, losing the control or any phobias – it can be managed and overcome with time and help with the right driving instructors.

Try breathing techniques for relaxation

It is important that before you start driving, you have a calm mind and normal beating heart. With a clear head you can focus on the road and steer clear of any potential accident.

Test out Visualisation Techniques

When you drive out of your comfort zone, it is common to deal with driving anxiety. In order to overcome that, it is recommended to visualise the route by the help of Google maps before continuing the journey so you know what to expect. Virtual therapy can also help with visualisation and offer you the exposure.

Avoid unhealthy behaviours

Looking up the statistics about road accidents or reading blogs on road fatalities can trigger your anxiety. It is unhealthy to focus on negative thoughts only. It is only going to hinder with your driving skills.

Know what to expect in your driving lessons

The thought of doing something you are afraid of is more fearful than actually engaging in that activity. If you are a first time learner then picture how your driving lesson is going to go. Familiarise yourself with things you already know like the type of car you have, the roads you will be passing, and the time you will start your session.

Boost confidence by positive affirmations

Repeat affirmations while you are driving to keep your head on the road. Saying I am safe or I am in control can help with your confidence when you are behind the wheel and can prevent a panic attack. If you feel unsteady then pull over by the road and work on your affirmations until you feel in control again.

Start in low traffic areas

Practice your driving skills in the start on low traffic roads or empty parking lots to avoid any mishap. Less traffic ensures less chance of anything going wrong and it helps you focus fully on the road.

Practice- Practice- Practice

You can overcome anything with enough practice. In the first several sessions make sure you have a specialist driver beside you who can control the car in case you are unable to calm your nerves. Drive 4 Pass provides experienced instructors who help you in learning driving.

Seek out professional help

Being in a constant state of flight or fight is not the right mindset when you are learning how to drive. Professional assistance can help you control your increased anxiety levels. Having a driving license gives you independence so don’t let anxiety stop you from learning the most important skill. Let us make your first driving experience a positive one. Drive 4 Pass has experienced driving instructors who can help you manage driving anxiety.

Keeping a car isn’t easy. It requires effort, time, and money to do the maintenance. Going to the mechanic is always costly, so here are some tips on how to do car maintenance yourself and keep it in the best condition throughout the year.

Keep an eye on tires – Tires are the most vital component of a car. You have to check for the tire pressure and tread depth. Always have full air in your tires as without it, the chances of accidents increase. Your tires should be replaced every 5 to 6 years or if you travel a lot then after every 20,000 miles. Not monitoring the tread on your tires could be an expensive mistake; worn or bald tires are not only potentially unlawful and could result in a citation, but they are also dangerous to drive on. You should also look for any cuts or bulges, as well as whether you’ve picked up anything sharp, such as a nail, which could result in a gradual puncture.

Battery – When the car does not start or struggles to start then it’s a sign that something is wrong with the battery. Batteries are sensitive to low temperatures and if you do not start the engine for a very long time, then there is a higher chance of the battery going flat. Once you get a flat battery then there isn’t much you can do so it is recommended to keep an external charger in the car.

Check your car lights – It is crucial to stay well-lit on the road while you are driving to avoid any accidents. You should always keep an eye on the lights in case any bulb fuses. You can easily replace the bulbs yourself or at a car shop for a small fare.

Petrol and Engine oil – Petrol is the most common fuel for cars in Greater Manchester. Premium unleaded (95 RON) is available all over the UK for cars. However, for high-performance cars, it is preferable to use high-octane petrol of 97/98 RON. Engine oil is extremely vital since it not only lubricates moving parts but also keeps the engine cool and clean; without it, a car could end up in serious difficulty. You may check your oil level with the dipstick located inside the tank; remember to clean it before dipping it in so you know where the genuine level is. Changing and filling up the oil, as well as keeping track of when the filter has to be changed, must be done correctly, so expert assistance may be required, but understanding when the level is low is a good place to start.

It is important to take care of your car so it does not bail on you suddenly. If you keep an eye on the above-mentioned things every week then you will stay out of car trouble.

Driving instructors are professionals who are trained to teach driving skills in a structured manner to suit differing abilities. Many people only have a 1-hour or 2-hour driving lesson each week. This can limit their experience to driving at the same time of day and over the same types of road.

Practising with family or friends

If you meet the rules, you can help by being a supervising driver during private practice between driving lessons. You’ll help your learner get more practice and gain wider experience of the varied driving conditions they’re likely to meet once they’ve passed their driving test.

Once you’re ready to take on this responsibility, you need to think about developing the skills of your learner – know their limits and do not attempt any driving that will be beyond their ability.

Encourage the learner to only take their driving test when they’re ready

You can also help your learner by encouraging them to only take their driving test when they’re ready to pass. It’s the best way of them:

getting their independence as soon as possible

being ready for a lifetime of safe driving

Never encourage the learner to “just give it a go”. If they take their test before they’re ready and fail, they:

will have to pay again for another driving test

will have to wait longer to take another test

could damage the confidence they’ve built up

Support the advice the driving instructor gives

Driving instructors are specially trained to help people learn to drive. They’ve got lots of driving and teaching experience and knowledge.

It’s unlikely that you’ll have the same level of experience and knowledge. Their advice is invaluable. Work as a team with the driving instructor to help your learner. Support the advice the driving instructor gives. Explain to your learner that:

the driving instructor wants them to succeed and be safe

the driving instructor has lots of knowledge and experience

you trust the driving instructor’s expert advice

it’s important for their own safety that they do not take their driving test before they’re ready

This is possibly one of the most critical decisions you will make when purchasing a car; whether to go with an automatic or manual transmission. Both have their pros and cons, and by understanding these differences, you will be able to pick the one that best suits your needs.

Manual transmission: More control, profound connection

Often called a “stick shift,” a manual transmission allows the driver greater control over the car. Choosing when to shift and doing it correctly can increase a car’s fuel economy. The strong bond one forms with the car is what makes manuals so appealing to many car enthusiasts.

It benefits many people who frequently cross the countryside or drive up roads that require careful attention to their gears, such as the hills in and around Greater Manchester.

Moreover, driving a manual car has its own downsides. For rookie drivers, learning to shift gears and utilise the clutch simultaneously is exhausting. You have to change gears frequently due to heavy city traffic and several pauses, which gets exhausting. On the other hand, it allows you to drive a variety of cars in the future.

Automatic Transmission: Reduced Anxiety and Easy Learning

The good news is that an automatic car takes care of shifting gears for you. This facilitates learning and usage, especially for novices. It lets you focus your attention on the environment, rather than details of the traffic. Such an ability can be tremendous solace when navigating through busy locations such as downtown Manchester, where one must be alert to cars and people. For instance, an auto car would be a bit easier to control; thus, the students at Drive4Pass could possibly go faster through even more classes. However, the majority of these cars are far more expensive to purchase and keep up than comparable manual-clutch cars. Also, when you pass your test in an automatic car, you will only be allowed to drive automatic cars afterward, which may limit you in the future.

Which is better for you?

Of course, all of this will rely on your own preferences and intended car activity. If you prefer to learn at a slow pace or drive mostly on busy city roads, an automatic car may be the best option for you. A manual transmission is preferred if you desire complete control over the vehicle, as well as the excitement and thrill of driving.
